December of 2012, Greenfield farms began participating in the Bedford Police Department’s (BPD) Neighborhood Watch program. As a participant in the BPD’s Neighborhood Watch program, quarterly newsletter is provided by BPD, sharing what went on in the community for the previous quarter along with updates on what to keep vigilant for.
The BPD along with many federal, state and local government agencies, first responders and community service organizations provide community alerts on a system called Nixle. Nixle is a public service announcement system which provides community alerts across the nation.
If you are going to be going away for any period of time, download the vacant house checks form and take it to the BPD. BPD will make some security passes while you are away.
For more information please review the neighborhood watch pamphlet.
During the holidays its important to be vigilant and review the holiday safety tips.

The neighborhood watch program is based on knowing your surroundings and reporting anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Our Neighborhood Watch Program is based on sharing of information, not feet on the streets.
What do we mean by this? Get to know your neighbors. Talk about what is going on in the neighborhood. Is there anything out of place, abnormal activity or unusual people or cars coming and going? When you are going away for a few days or extended vacation, let your neighbor know to keep an eye on things.
If you are witnessing anything suspicious, Bedford Police Depart (BPD) encourages residents to call it in as quick as you can 472-5113 or 911. When you call, state you are calling in some suspicious behavior. You will be asked for some information, do you have a license plate number and to describe what you are observing. BPD will respond accordingly. To see the results of your call, review the quarterly BPD newsletter which we post on our web site. Each quarter, the BPD sends a report of suspicious activities called into BPD so we can see the results.
What information should I provide? The biggest single piece of information to get is the license plate if a vehicle is involved. The license plate is the quickest way for the police to look up information. Next would be any outstanding individual characteristics such as tattoos and scars which would differentiate or make the individual stand out. For vehicles, outstanding characteristics would be dents, scratches, custom paint schemes, hood ornaments, wheels and rims.
Keep yours eyes open and call Beford Police Department if you see anything out of place or something that does not seem right @ 472-5113 or 911.
